Loading Your Dishwasher

Properly loading your dishwasher will give you the best cleaning performance and protect your dishware, cookware, cutlery and glasses. You should always follow the manufacturer's recommendations when loading your dishwasher, but here are our best tips for sparkling results

For Great Cleaning

• Before you put anything in the dishwasher, scrape large particles like bones, seeds, toothpicks and other hard soils from dishes.
• Generally larger and dirtier items are best on the bottom rack. Cups, glasses and less soiled items should be put on the top rack.
• Place your cutlery in the cutlery basket and avoid over-packing the items so the water can rinse all surfaces. This ensures each piece is properly washed, rinsed and dried.
• Position your dishes and utensils with the heavily soiled side facing the source of the water spray.
• For tough soils like baked-on/burnt-on foods use Finish QUANTUM.
• Use Finish Dishwasher Cleaner once a month to eliminate limescale thereby avoiding blocked spray arms which will reduce your machine's performance. Remember: a cleaner dishwasher means cleaner dishes!

Protecting Your Kitchenware

• Avoid spilling dishwashing detergent directly onto your cutlery as this can cause corrosion.
• Rinse acidic foods like salad dressing and salt off of cutlery before loading as direct and prolonged contact can cause it to become tarnished.
• Take the cutlery out immediately after you've run your dishwasher to avoid it being left in a humid atmosphere which will prevent corrosion.
• Don't mix silver and stainless steel as this can cause tarnishing/rust spots.
• Do not overload your dishwasher. This causes mechanical damage such as scratching and chipping if items are packed too tightly together.
• Stack plates and glasses so they're not touching to prevent chipping.

Warning

Sharp items such as knives can be dangerous. Carefully place these horizontally in the upper rack or handle up in the cutlery rack making sure any long handles don't obstruct the spray arms.
